A retelling of my life in DC and all the stupid ass sh!t I get myself into...

Who's in charge here?

So the other week, I went to a cook out/party in a back yard. Some might even call it a back yard bash!! Well, either way, there were a solid number of folks that used to run the Hash at one point in time or another. What is the Hash? I'll let you Wiki that one, and when you do you'll find out that GM's are the ones that run the show. So, with out further delay, here are 7 generations of EWH3 GM's, all together. What are the odds? Organized from the newest GM on the left, to the oldest on the right. Wow... I've never before seen this many GM's from the same hash in the same place.

Schooools out 4 summa!

So, classes are finally done!! I know I know, it was only 6 weeks, but the 530-1030 class.... that's just icky!! Even if it was a class about something that I find interesting, 5 hours is just more then my ADD self can pay attention to.
But the professor was very interesting, and I found him quite humorous actually. When you combine his heavy accent, his strange sense of humor, and his ability to be really indifferent to a lot of things = one funny a$$ dude! My final project, shocker here, was about my Jeep. He said make a web site, and a website I made. I thought it was pretty cool, had plenty of links for mod's and mod companies, pictures, music and even a video.
So, over all, taking Web Design was well worth it for me. I might not build any amazing sites, but I know enough so that I can put something together if I need it and also be able to look at other peoples code to fix it. I would recommend this as an interesting step into HTML for anyone that has any amount of interest. And for only $250 for the class... you can't go wrong!

Boating Season...

So I won't call it a super bad night, but over all it was an excellent night. I got to Georgetown right around 8pm to find a packed dock with boats tied up, people walking the docks from all directions, and even some crazy chick driving her Honda Fit on the sidewalk?? Well, she missed me so the night must go on. Everyone's brought some food for the grill to share, so we get to cooking. What a feast! Amazing chicken, fresh veggies, ears of corn...followed by steak, steak, and more steak. Just when you thought nothing else could come off the grill, here are some crab legs for you as well.
Clearly, it's getting late at this point and the cops are trying to kick everyone off the dock. We can't, we're tied down to too many boats, right? Wrong! I take the outside boat up river for a minute to give the others time to turn around and join the group anchored down in the middle of the river. We all tie off, and we are back to hangin out like it's our jobs.
Everything is going great, the snacks continue to roll off the grill, there's great music and even a little dancing. Great folks to talk to, everyone is having a great time... aaaaaaaand then the cops show up. Yeah, in the middle of the damned water?!?!? Wow, that blows. Our fearless captain is cuffed for no reason, and the rest of us are getting kicked off. Luckily, we can catch a ride with another boat to shore.
Time to call it a night?? I think not!! Let's head to Five to close the place down!! All in all, a nice night out.... now, if I could only sleep the next day to make up for the sleep I haven't gotten! O well, sleep when your dead, right?

One Month In

Recon PackSo here I am, one month into my new Job. Things are going well, the close proximity to everything sure has been nice. Instead of having to get in my ride and drive somewhere to get ANYTHING as was the case at my old place of employment, I just take the elevator and walk. Everything is a walk here. In fact, i don't think I've walked this much on a daily basis since I was in college!!
It's nice, and hopefully this additional exercise, will help me tone up just a smidge or at the very least, offset some of the energy I'm not burning while sitting on my a$$ at work. To go with that, I've gotten myself a new Recon pack that I'm really enjoying. It has chest straps which help distribute the weight... a very appreciated feature if you find yourself walking a decent amount with a pack every day.
I'm also taking some web design classes which I've found very interesting. The professor is a very funny guy who cracks himself up a lot!! Reminds me of someone... I just can't quite put my finger on it... Learning how to read and write HTML I think is a useful skill, one that will prob be very useful for more then just updating Wiki pages and posting stuff on Craigslist I hope. I'm not certain how deep into this computer stuff I'll delve, but for now, I'm enjoying it. Although 5 hour classes are tough to stay focused. So far, we've had 2 classes, the 3rd is the mid term?? Wow... that was fast!!
To help stimulate the economy, I've been shopping!!! In addition to my new recon pack, I've picked up a Sony VAOI to replace my previous laptop. Got an excellent deal on you haven't checked it out,! ...well, soon. So the new VAIO is on order with a new case for it and an iPod Touch. Honestly, I'm probably going to sell off the iPod Touch, I just don't see the use for it in my life. I can see that it's a great gizmo/tool/whatever, but I just don't need it. Between my 8gb nano and shuffle I'm all iPod'd up! The strange thing to me is, I ordered it all at the same time, the laptop bag is arriving at my house today but the laptop hasn't even shipped out yet. WTF? Doesn't make much sense to me. Well, at least I'm getting my money back for my Rush Processing that ended up being not rushed at all. I had hopes of it getting here as soon as tomorrow, but at this point, I doubt it. I'm sure I'll enjoy it when it gets here.
The Audi is FINALLY gone. For those of you that were following it, it took almost a year and a lawyer to get Audi to offset taking it off my hands. And all the time, Audi of Alexandria fought the process. I might one day buy another Audi, but I will never do business with Audi of Alexandria. I urge you all to be wary of that whole dealership group.
The Jeep is running well and is looking forward to an upcoming lift... nothing major, just a 2-2.5" boost. But I think when you get that boost and the new 31's AND the new rock guards in place of my side steps that are currently there, it'll really look much much better. I'll post some pix when the upgrades are complete.
I really do plan to update more consistently... I started out posting daily, maybe even twice a day some days, and now I can barely write something once a month? Hmmm... I need to pencil in some time to jot some thoughts down here more often.
