A retelling of my life in DC and all the stupid ass sh!t I get myself into...

Twas the day before xmas...

And all through out DC, everyone was sleeping. Well, everyone except the contractors at my office. There's a contingent of us at the office, but I want to thank everyone that didn't go in to make the commute in very easy for once!!! Empty beltway, followed by an empty parking lot! Wow... what's going on here? Well, what ever it is, it's nice.
Xmas is all coming together. There's a tree, there are decorations on it, and there are presents under it. There's food in the house for a tasty breakfast/brunch, there's some booze for coffee drinks, & a movie playing later on tomorrow. All in all, it looks like everything is ready to go. I hope everyone got what they wanted this holiday season.

Merry X-mas.

Random Thoughts...

So, this is the crap that has been on my mind today:
  1. Why would you have a wheelchair accessible restroom on the second floor of a building with no elevators?
  2. Landrover & Jag are being purchased by a car company from India. Their finest car is reminiscent of a 1988 Hyundai Excel. Good bye Landrover & Jag. You had a good run.
  3. How is it that a White House press release stating 12.24.07 is a federal holiday doesn't actually apply to most of the country?
  4. Why does it take 30 minutes to get donuts from Dunkin Donuts? Put random ones in the box - clearly much more difficult then I think.
  5. Happy Holiday's to all!!!
  6. Clearly, I haven't thought much today.

Time for a change...

As you may have noticed looking around the site, that it looks a whole lot different. Well, I figured my blog was well over due for a re-design (this would be the first one since 08.30.05!!!). What do you think? This template was done by Andreas of Gecko & Fly & I think it looks really effin cool!! I think I've honestly spent enough time for one day fiddling with this page, so I must be off. But before I go, one last look at the old style.

Mo Money Mo Problems...

I'm finally starting to believe this statement is true. Let us assume that when I graduated college, I made X amount of money. I am currently make Y amount of money. Let us also assume that Z > Y > X. When I was making X amount of money, I was struggling and thinking, you know, if I only made Y amount of money, life would be good, there would be no stress and the bills would all just magically disappear. The heavens would part and champagne would rain on us all... ok, maybe not that excessive, but just that life would be easier.
Fast forward to today, I make Y amount of money and life is no easier. In fact, I think on the days when I made X amount of money as easier times. As I am at Y amount, I am in a unique position. I know it is foolish to think that making Z amount of money will be the answer, I simultaneously recall that making X money was an easier life yet I know it wasn't.
Hmmmm... I could cop out and blame the gas prices on making life hard, but they have kind of flip flopped with my auto insurance premium as I've gotten older - so overall, no savings. The day is still good, but such is the dilemma of life. Every time you get a raise, life is easier for a little while, then you are back to your dilemma. The best thing you can do for yourself is live like you make X amount while making Z amount. That keeps you best prepared with cash on hand in case anything happens.
Am I financially screwed right now? No. Am I loaded? HELLLLL no! But, just like my grandfather, my goal is to make enough to live comfortably, take care of the people around me, have a little left over to help out my community and buy myself something shiny from time to time!

Congrat's Caddy!!

I, like many people in the US, want so badly to believe in the American market. Whether it's automotive, factory, finance, whatever. I want us as a people to succeed and thrive. At this time, the 2008 Cadillac CTS has just been named the coveted 2008 Car & Driver car of the year! I knew that GM had been taking steps in the right direction, and it's great to see that others are taking notice. A short celebration is in order, but then you gotta get your a$$ in gear getting the rest of the fleet in order too! I think many of us are looking forward to the G8 sedan burning up the pavement soon!!

Today was a good day....

Ok, so maybe it wasn't as good as this video, but it's been good. Traffic wasn't bad this morning, I was on time to work, my projects are coming along well, my boss thinks I'm doing a killer job today, my co-worker offered me salary negotiation tips today, ran ALL my errands and knocked out some more x-mas shopping during my lunch break. Not bad, not bad at all!
